Spanish Summer Camp

Our Spanish Summer Camp will be held from Monday July 11th – Friday July 15th 2022.

Classes are held for one hour every day at our tuition centre in Castletroy, Limerick. This allows children to immerse themselves in the language and learn the same amount of content that would normally be taught in a 5-week course.

If you’re interested in signing up, please complete the application form below and we will be in touch soon.

Suitable for Children aged 4 to 12 years old

Our Spanish Summer Camp is suitable for children between the ages of 4 and 12 years old.

We accept learners of all levels and abilities.

Children are grouped according to age and ability and we have a small pupil-teacher ratio which allows us to provide individualised attention and support.

If the dates of this Spanish Summer Camp do not suit, we also run an online Spanish Classes for Kids course which is suitable for children aged 7-12, as featured in the Limerick Leader in January 2021.

Fun & Interactive Classes

All of our Spanish Classes are taught using child-centred methodologies to make the lessons fun and engaging. This includes songs, stories, role-play, arts and craft activities and games.

The actual lesson content will depend on the age and ability of the children in each group.

Children who have no experience of learning the language will begin by learning basic vocabulary and phrases such as ‘hello’, ‘good bye’ and ‘how are you’ as well as vocabulary associated with colours, emotions and numbers which is the foundation to learning any language.

Children who are at a more advanced level will build upon this knowledge by focusing on more complex words and phrases while also learning “situational Spanish” in order to give them the skills necessary to be able to communicate effectively in a Spanish-speaking country. This includes learning how to ask for directions and how to order food in a restaurant.

In every group, lessons will focus on developing a combination of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

Learning Spanish has Multiple Benefits

Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world with 400 million native speakers and it holds official language status in 21 countries in the world! Being able to speak Spanish could open up so many doors for your child.

Children’s brains absorb languages easily and research has shown that exposure to multiple languages at an early stage is hugely beneficial to a child’s social, emotional and cognitive development.

Spanish is a beautiful language to learn and is ranked as one of the easiest to grasp. It is a phonetic language meaning there is a direct relationship between spelling and the sound therefore words are sounded out, pronounced and spelled more easily. Children with dyslexia often find learning Spanish more manageable because of this.

Áine has a first class honours degree in Hispanic studies from the University of Aberdeen. She also attended the Universidad de la Salle in Mexico City where she studied primary school teaching through Spanish. Áine’s teaching approach focuses on giving students confidence in their reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities by using child-centred, activity-based methodologies. As well as this, Áine enables children to immerse themselves in the Spanish language by teaching them about Spanish and Latin American culture through songs, stories, audio-visual material and games.
