This online course, delivered live weekly, teaches Leaving Cert students how to accelerate their grades by developing effective study, time-management and organisational techniques.

Course Content

1) LC Oral: All sections – Fáiltiú, Léamh na Filíochta, Comhrá, Sraith Pictiúr. This is worth 40% of the exam so practice is key.

2) Aistí/Díospóireschtaí (Essays/Debates): This is worth 100 marks in Paper 1.

3) Poetry and Prose: A selection of each for this term.

4) Cluastuiscint (Listening Practice)

Higher Level: This term, students will receive exam focused tuition in poetry, prose and drama. Students will also receive extensive support in oral work, including the Sraith Pictiúr, in preparation for the Irish oral exam (worth 40%).

HL & OL LC Irish: The focus for this term is on oral preparation. Students will engage in several mini mock orals to prepare them for the exam and will receive with extensive feedback, support, and notes targeted to their areas of need. 

Meet The Teacher

Shane is a fully qualified and experienced secondary school Irish teacher. He also works as a State Examiner for the State Examinations Commission (SEC), grading the mock oral and written examinations for the Junior and Leaving Cert. This means that Shane has an excellent understanding of what students need to know in order to succeed in the Junior and Leaving Cert Irish exams as well as common pitfalls and how to avoid them. 

Shane holds an honours Bachelor of Arts degree and Professional Masters of Education from the University of Limerick. His Leaving Cert Irish grinds cover all aspects of the syllabus, including reading, writing, speaking and listening, grammar work, vocabulary development, sentence structure and essay writing. All of his students are provided with comprehensive notes to simplify revision and solidify what has been covered in class. 

With a passion for teaching, Shane goes above and beyond, investing significant time and effort into crafting engaging classes and providing invaluable notes, cheat sheets and memory aids to ensure his students reach their full potential. Shane is a registered member of the Teaching Council and Garda vetted.
